How Many Calories In A Pound of Fat ?

Question: How Many Calories Are In A Pound of Fat ?

Answer: Ther are 3500 calories in a pound of fat.

Knowing this can come in handy if you are on a quest to either lose or gain weight (most of us need and/or want to lose weight).

Once you know your body's specific caloric needs you can easily figure out what it takes to safely lose your unwanted pounds safely, quickly, and easily.

To lose a pound of fat, you basically need a deficit of 3500 calories. It can come off of your daily caloric intake AND/OR from cardiovascular exercise or a combination of both.

If you are in need of a step by step easy to follow plan to lose unwanted fat, there are two courses I strongly recommend as an ex personal trainer.

#1 Reason Metabolism Decreases and Slows With Age

Question: Why does Our Metabolism Slow Down and/or Decrease With Age?

Answer: The short version is as follows: Our metabolism slows down with age (usually starting at about 30) because our lean muscle mass slowly decreases as we age.

The amount of lean muscle mass each of us have is the driving force of our metabolism.

When I was going to college, I worked as a certified personal trainer. I was young and didn't quite understand how busy life can get when you have kids, a career, and a never ending desire to still enjoy life in the limited moments we have as "free time". (Bare with me, this is part of the answer).

So, now I see first hand why it is that our metabolism slows down with age. We have less and less time to be active and exercise.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO REVERSE THIS DECREASE IN METABOLISM?

Weight training is the answer. Ladies, don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting you get all huge and funky looking. You can be the master of your domain. You can do some light weight training to maintain your lean muscle mass. This will help stop the decrease in metabolism that most aging folks will experience.

Now, if you gain a couple of pounds of muscle (or a bunch for you guys), you actually will be increasing your metabolism.

Also, weight training has numerous other benefits such as:

--Strengthening bones & reducing your odds for getting osteoporosis.
--Gives you a more tone looking, sexy body.
--Reduces blood pressure.
--improves muscular endurance.
--Increases metabolism.
--It energizes you.
--Can prevent and/or stop the body's natural decline in metabolism.
--Improves self confidence.
--Lowers your resting heart rate.
--Improves immune system functioning.
--Decreases your risk of adult onset diabetes.
--Improves posture
-----And much more.

Now, not everyone has the knowledge that a personal trainer might have. Also, not everyone can afford and expensive personal trainer.

As an ex personal trainer, I've taken it upon myself to research the net for the many different programs available to help educate, motivate, & implement a weight loss / weight maintenance / weight training / cardio training program.

One of my favorites for the 30+ crowd is Jon Benson's Fit Over 40 program. He provides you with all the tools you need to prevent a decrease in your metabolism AND look and feel better than ever just like Jon did. He may have been in your shoes at one point (he was overweight and over 30 - 43 actually). For this reason, he has an amazing ability to empathetically teach you what you need to know to reach your fitness goals.

3 Easy Tips To Lose Body Fat

Fat loss does not have to be difficult, especially if you have a few tricks up your sleeve. By this I don't mean I would ever want you to take a dangerous, radical approach to your fat loss but only one that would be healthy and prove great results at the same time.

I have had many clients, friends and family members ask me, "Isabel, is there a way I can drop my first few pounds of fat quickly and easily?" Yes, there is. It will require a few dietary changes on your part, but the results are incredible. I have had hundreds of people use these tips with great success, easily losing their first 10-15lbs of unwanted fat.

Here are 3 Simple and Easy Fat Loss Rules:

1. Don’t eat anything that is white. Name every single food that is white and chances are you shouldn’t be eating it: bread, pasta, crackers, most cereals, flour based products, white potatoes, white rice, and pasteurized dairy and cheese are all no-no's during this time. (Healthy foods like cauliflower, chicken, turkey, fish, white pork are all exceptions to this rule).

2. Only drink water, NOTHING else! How about coffee? Just to keep any possible withdrawal headaches at bay, one small cup of organic black coffee. Can you add half and half?…Well is it white? Drink a minimum of 1/2 of your bodyweight in ounces of water each day (ex. If you weigh 200 lbs, you need to drink 100 ounces) to really see the fat fall off.

3. Don’t eat anything with the word wheat in the ingredients list. What if it’s whole wheat? Look, if the word starts with W and ends in T and has the letters h e a in between, you can’t eat it. This includes bread, pasta, crackers and cereal. Many packaged snack foods also contain wheat so be sure to read the ingredients list carefully.

Are you up for this challenge? Apply these easy fat loss rules to your own eating plan for the next 2 weeks and I know you will be seeing some amazing fat loss results in no time.
